The province’s move towards more Family Care Clinics is a move not only being touted as good for patients, but for doctors as well.
Yesterday, the province announced funding for 10 new clinics as part of the budget.
Dr. Dianne Keating-Power, a physician at a family care clinic in St. John’s, says making the switch to that style of practice changed her life.
She spent years working in the fee-for-service system, however the burden of running a full-time family practice took a toll on her and her family.
Keating-Power says she was months away from closing down her practice and leaving medicine altogether when the pandemic struck. She joined a COVID clinic, which she says opened her eyes to collaborative team health care and reignited her passion for medicine.
Now, Keating-Power is working as a member of the Eastern Family Care Team.
