It has been a trying day in the community of Dildo as federal fisheries officers have been working to save several dolphins that have been trapped by pack ice in the bay.
Videos of the dolphins frolicking in the water were shared yesterday on social media, but resident Marilyn Crotty, who has been on hand to watch most of the situation unfold, says the ice moved in overnight to the detriment of the creatures.

She says the originally counted about 20 dolphins in the water. Three have been rescued and on last count seven were still there. That has lead Crotty to speculate that some may have tried to swim under the ice and have gotten stuck.

Crotty describes the condition of some of the dolphins that she has seen.
She says some of them look like they have been hitting up against the ice, while other look no worse for wear.
