A man with a number of warrants out for his arrest is facing more charges after attempting to flee metro police.
Late Saturday night, RNC, along with police dog services, searched the centre city for man with 15 warrants out for his arrest.
The 39-year-old man was found asleep behind the wheel in a car parked near Mitchell Court. When police approached, the accused took off on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers.
Along with the 15 warrants, the man faces multiple new charges including impaired, refusal, dangerous operation of a vehicle, resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breach of probation.
He’s also been issued multiple summary offence tickets.
He was taken to hospital for injuries and will appear in court this morning.
