Just 24 hours after earning the top spot in their division, the Newfoundland Growlers have clinched first in the eastern conference.
Pavel Gogolev led the team past the Trois-Rivieres Lions with a hat trick in the 4-1 victory, playing to a sold out crowd at the Mary Brown’s Centre.

The Growlers set a franchise record for most points in a single season at 96.
Goaltender Luke Cavallin, who made 29 saves, also set a franchise record for most wins at 24.

Securing the top spot in the eastern conference will give the team home ice advantage during each round of the postseason, which kicks off at the end of April.
The Growlers play their final regular season home game this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
