Three men blamed for a fatal crash on Peacekeepers’ Way last year will have their case called in provincial court on Monday.
The trio, including a truck driver and two mechanics, were charged after the collision on June 7, which involved a tractor-trailer and a car.
The driver of the car, a 56-year-old man from St. John’s, died when his vehicle was struck by the big rig near Fowler’s Road and Minerals Road.
The RNC says mechanical issues contributed to the tragedy, adding the investigation also uncovered negligence and fraud related to vehicle inspections on the rig.
The driver of the truck, 27-year-old Sam Tessier of Mount Pearl, has been charged with criminal negligence causing death.
Two mechanics—59-year-old Cec Walsh of Paradise and 66-year-old Terry Barnes of Goulds—are also facing charges.
Walsh stands accused of criminal negligence causing death, 59 counts of fraud and 19 counts of uttering a forged document.
Barnes faces 40 counts of uttering a forged document.
They have yet to enter pleas to the charges.
