Repairs to the Cantilever pedestrian bridge in Bowring Park are set to be complete this summer.
Council has awarded a contract to Dexter Construction Company Limited for the repairs, which will hopefully be complete by the end of July.
St. John’s Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary first brought forward concerns about the condition of the bridge as far back as 2017.
She says a number of people have been involved in the process, including engineering students who conducted assessments to ensure its architectural features would be maintained throughout the restoration.
