The cruise ship season is off to a rocky start with the cancellation of the first visit this Monday because of the ice field, but the councillor responsible for the industry is optimistic about the rest of the way.
The next one scheduled to dock in St. John’s Harbour is the Silver Shadow on June 6.
Councillor Debbie Hanlon says they have a total of 35 ships destined to visit between June and October, but sometimes they receive an unscheduled cruise liner.
They had a few unexpected overnights last year, which contributes to the economy.
