Federal Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan says he feels “relieved” that most striking PSAC workers have reached a tentative deal with the Treasury Board.
The union made the announcement overnight, however not all workers are included as negotiations for the unit that represents CRA workers is continuing.
Despite that, O’Regan says today is a good day.
He says there is “tremendous relief” not just for him, but for striking workers, their families, and people who avail of government services.
O’Regan believes they have landed on a deal that finds common ground.
He says the feds know that they are trendsetters in terms of other governments and the private sector watching how the talks unfold. He notes the pressure that was felt on both sides of the negotiating table, and now it’s time to get back to work.
