A rally is set for downtown St. John’s today to mark International Workers’ Day, otherwise known as May Day.
Working-class people, trade unions, and members of the community at large will gather at 12:30 p.m. at Harbourside Park for the event.
It will begin with a noon-time march from City Hall—with Public Service Alliance of Canada’s striking membership as guests of honour.
Members of CUPE will also take to the streets from their convention to join the march and other unions.
Speakers at the rally will include Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour President Jessica McCormick, as well as representatives from Unifor, MUNFA, CUPE, and the Worker’s Action Network.
