Legendary Canadian folk singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot has passed away.
Lightfoot only reached the top of the charts once, with his song “Sundown,” but is well known for many other songs like “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”, “Carefree Highway” and “Early Morning Rain.”
Tributes have flooded in online for Lightfoot, who was a beloved musician not just to his fans, but to musicians around the word. Lightfoot even garnered a fan out of one of the most beloved songwriters of all time, Bob Dylan.
Dylan inducted Lightfoot into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1986.
Lightfoot was 84.
Gordon Lightfoot has left us. There’s something about Canada and Gordons.. This is a photo of him alongside fellow Gords Downie and Pinsent. Pinsent then painted the image. All gone now. To quote Mr. Lightfoot, “If you plan to face tomorrow, do it soon.” #GordanLightfoot pic.twitter.com/ObRsN5F3gl
