Newfoundland and Labrador has a new senator. Iris Petten of Port de Grave has been appointed to replace a spot left vacant by Norm Doyle.
Petten has over 35 years in the fishing industry, and served on Memorial University’s Board of Regents from 2013 to 2022.
She joins Jane MacAdam of Prince Edward Island as the two latest appointments to the Senate.
Newfoundland and Labrador has five senators, including Fabian Manning, Elizabeth Marshall and David Wells (Conservative), and Mohamed Ravalia (Independent).
Petten will also serve with Independent affiliation, one of 68 in total.
