The official opposition is raising questions about the process being undertaken to choose a bidder to build the HMP replacement.
Infrastructure critic Loyola O’Driscoll raised the issue in the House of Assembly yesterday.
When government initially put out the tender, three comapnies put bids in. However, Minister Elvis Loveless says two of them dropped out of the process and now government is going through the process of determining whether the now sole bidder should be the ones to build the facility.

While Loveless says a decision is forthcoming on that, O’Driscoll has concerns after hearing estimates in the House of Assembly.
O’Driscoll says they heard that the project is way over budget and government is considering going back to tender. Loveless responded by saying they are going through the process, and to “stay tuned for good news.”
