King Charles III has been formally crowned as head of the British monarchy following the first Coronation ceremony in 70 years.
The King takes the throne following the passing of his mother Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022. His wife Camilla was also crowned Queen this morning at London’s Westminster Abbey.
“I come not be served, but to serve,” said the King while accepting the title.
A number of Canadians are on hand for the event including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Governor General Mary Simon.
From this province, comedian Mark Critch shared a Tweet this morning of his view of the Coronation on the streets of London.

The cool temperatures were not enough to drive people away as hundreds gathered on the lawn to celebrate the King’s Coronation.
Lieutenant Governor Judy Foote says she’s honoured to represent the King during such an historic day for the monarchy.
