The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Museum is partnering with L’Arche Museum and Archives on the French islands of St. Pierre et Miquelon for a six week exhibit on the Regiment’s role in Europe during WWI.
The exhibit, which officially opening on the weekend, was designed to showcase the experience of regimental soldiers on the front lines in France.
Royal Newfoundland Museum Chair Frank Gogos was in attendance.
He says the exhibit was warmly received, with good attendance.
They found through their research that the people in neighbouring St. Pierre et Miquelon, which has close ties to Newfoundland, didn’t have a lot of understanding about the role of the regiment or the monuments and battle scenes in France. Gogos is hopeful that the partnership could lead to further collaborative projects in the future.
