A program which provides support for people trying to get out of the sex trade is back in business after federal funding dried up.
Thrive, an umbrella organization charged with the task of reducing and bringing awareness to sexual exploitation and human trafficking, gets $60,000 a year from the provincial government for a the CASEY program, which addresses the sexual exploitation of youth. However, funding for the Blue Door program had expired in 2022.
The executive director of Thrive, Angela Crockwell, says they have secured money from the federal government to continue the Blue Door Program.
The money from Ottawa will allow them to have two staff positions for the next three years for the program.
