Crew of the French patrol vessel PSP Fulmar welcomed the public aboard for a tour while docked in St John’s this morning.
It’s the first time the St. Pierre-based ship has visited the capital city since 2019, and her crew pulled out all the stops.
Dozens of locals and tourists came out to see the French naval ship up close and inside.
Built in the early 1990s as a fishing vessel, the 40-foot vessel was commissioned by the French Government in 1997 for fisheries patrol off St. Pierre and Miquelon.
The Fulmar also carries several smaller boats that allow the crew to complete various missions, including fishery enforcement, search and rescue, and assisting other vessels at sea.
Commanding Officer Lieutenant Alain-Marie Tertrais says it feels great to share the ship with the public, while he says some crew members are also taking time to explore the City of St. John’s.
Tertrais says some of the crew have rest time they are taking advantage of, while some have been out and about enjoying sites such as Quidi Vidi and Signal Hill.
The PSP Fulmar is scheduled to depart for its home port on Wednesday.
