The Association of Seafood Producers says an “incredible amount” of misinformation has been circulating regarding the ASP and their position.
Executive Director Jeff Loder takes exception to the way in which discussions and positions are being categorized by the FFAW.
He says the fishery is at a critical moment and claims some harvesters and bait and ice trucks are being blocked by other harvesters.

He says there is too much misrepresentation at a time when so much is at stake and he accuses the union of a complete fabrication of what has transpired.
He says there is no formal offer to the ASP from the FFAW, and there is no ASP offer on the table right now “and there will not be.” He says they will enforce trip limits as a producer group, and a fair scheme needs to be in place.
He told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that public safety is now at stake.
FFAW Responds

FFAW President Greg Pretty
The FFAW says a revised offer was delivered to the ASP’s Jeff Loder after extended debate.
In a release issued on the FFAW’s website following Loder’s comments on VOCM Open Line, the union says ASP returned with a the final counteroffer that was in turn presented to members for consideration.
The union says the Snow Crab Bargaining Committee attempted an additional counter, which was rejected.
The FFAW says immediate provincial intervention is needed to get the situation sorted.
Questions in the House

Questions surrounding the latest developments were raised in the House this afternoon by Opposition Leader David Brazil.
“Plant workers are home without a source of income and businesses are suffering” according to Brazil who asked what government is doing to resolve the issue.
“Welcome to my world” replied Fisheries Minister Derrick Bragg, who says the issues continues to evolve rapidly. He encouraged both sides to bring the dispute to an end. He heard what Loder had to say on VOCM Open Line, who indicated they are waiting for the FFAW to bring something forward.
