Two men accused of sexually abusing several teenage boys over the past 10 to 15 years will remain behind bars for the immediate future.
62-year-old Tony Humby and 80-year-old Bruce Escott face almost 20 charges in total in connection with the alleged offences that are said to have occurred between 2007 and 2021.
Police believe the two men worked together to entice and assault the boys in the east end St. John’s neighbourhood where they both live.
Humby and Escott went through the bail process, with Humby being turned down and Escott waiving his hearing and agreeing to stay in jail for now.
The charges against them include sexual assault, sexual exploitation, exposing oneself to a youth, making sexually explicit material available to a youth, invitation to sexual touching and child-luring.
They were arrested in April as part of an RNC investigation that began in November after one complainant came forward.
Police still believe there are other victims, and are hoping they will contact the RNC or Crime Stoppers.
Both accused are due back in court on May 18 for an update on the status of the case.
