Embattled fish harvesters continued their push for a better price for crab with protests at several locations in metro on Friday.
Harvesters began their impromptu protest at the Association of Seafood Producers, but quickly departed for the offices of Ocean Choice International in Paradise.
There, the group stood outside, and spoke with leadership at OCI, including President Blaine Sullivan.
The interaction remained civil, though tensions were high from harvesters whose ships have been docked for upwards of six weeks.
One harvester yelled “you’re puttin’ us bankrupt b’y!” Sullivan fired back, saying “it’s not us, it’s not us. I agree the price is low.”
Speaking at a separate event after the protestors had disbanded for the day, Fisheries Minister Derrick Bragg says he is disappointed that yet another week has gone by without a deal.
Bragg states that both sides need to continue talks over the weekend to find their common ground to get the fishery open.
