Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Ottawa will continue to work with communities like Nain to address issues through the Indigenous Housing Strategy.
He and several of his ministers were in Labrador last week.
On Friday, Trudeau co-chaired the Inuit Partnership Committee Leaders meeting along with President of the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, Natan Obed.
The Prime Minister met with residents and a number of leaders in the Indigenous community to discuss topics such as health care and housing.
Trudeau says they understand the dire needs in Indigenous communities and believes there are opportunities to create sustainable housing and employment. “We will continue to do this in partnership, because that’s what reconciliation is all about.”
Today’s community feast in Nain was special for many reasons, and I was so thankful I got to share this experience with Hadrien. To everyone who was there: Thank you for the warm welcome. Let’s keep building relationships and working together. pic.twitter.com/CFfllWlHff

When we sit down and work together, we deliver the best outcomes. That was clear in Nain today, as the Inuit-Crown Partnership Committee met to take stock of the progress we’ve made and work on our shared priorities – like health care and housing.
