It’s a big day for those who follow tennis.
The Davis Cup, the tennis world’s equivalent of the Stanley Cup, is in St. John’s today as part of a country-wide tour following last fall’s Team Canada world champion victory.
It’s the first time in the cup’s 123 year history that someone from Canada won the world cup.
The Davis Cup will be available for public viewing starting this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. on the third floor of The Rooms.
Tennis NL board member Nancy Taylor says the cup is so massive—at over a metre tall—they have a special space set up at The Rooms for display, along with a photo booth for fans eager to see the tennis world’s highest prize. “This is pretty huge” says Taylor.
