A 42-year-old Mount Pearl woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after she was struck and trapped under a vehicle that crashed through the front of Shoppers Drug Mart on Lemarchant Road in St. John’s Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 3:30 p.m.

The woman was outside the entrance of the store when the collision occurred.

The woman had to be extracted from beneath the SUV amid a tangle of metal and shattered glass.

The driver of the vehicle, a 77-year-old man was not physically injured in the crash.
