The House of Assembly went to the dogs yesterday as two iconic breeds linked directly to this province were formally recognized for their cultural significance.
The Newfoundland dog and the Labrador retriever, each of which has existed in this province for countless years, were recognized for their unique and desirable traits.
Newfoundland dogs are sought after by rescue organizations around the world for their brave ability to assist in water rescues, while the Labrador is one of the most popular breeds around the world, prized for their gentle and kind nature.
Labrador retriever Beau, and Newfoundland dog Night were brought to the floor of the Legislature and given a standing ovation.
