The provincial government has announced a number of new incentives for nurse practitioners to set up practice in family care teams and in rural ERs.
Health Minister Tom Osborne says the incentives are based on geographic location and range from $20,000 to $40,000 dollars for a commitment to at least one year of service.
The incentives start at $20,000 dollars for “non-rural” areas, and increase to $30,000 dollars for areas outside urban areas, and $40,000 for more rural areas.
The province is also offering $10,000 to Nurse Practitioners who work in a Family Care Team and who commit to provide coverage in a Category B emergency department. That incentive is renewable after one year.
