The Department of Health is reporting some progress in efforts to set up Family Care Teams in the province.
The department is reporting five fully operational Family Care Teams including three in St. John’s, one on the southeast Avalon and one in Stephenville.
Four others are under development including the Coast of Bays region, Conception Bay North, the Northern Peninsula and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Ten more teams are in the development stage including Bonavista, Bonavista North, Clarenville, Conception Bay North, Deer Lake-White Bay, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Lab West, Port aux Basques and St. John’s.
Once fully implemented, the province says the Family Care Teams will address the primary care needs of up to 80,000 people.
