The provincial government has made changes to its Medical Transportation Assistance Program, giving everyone in the Labrador-Grenfell Health zone access to the same rate of reimbursement.
The changes mean that everyone in the region will be entitled for the same rates of compensation for eligible expenses such as airfare and accommodations, to larger centres for specialized insured medical services.
According to government, the policy applies to all areas north of Bartlett’s Harbour and Englee on the Northern Peninsula, and all of Labrador.
The province says the changes are an “initial step” in making medical transportation assistance more responsive to people in the province.
