It was an emotional day in Mount Pearl City Council yesterday.
The city held their first council meeting since Deputy Mayor Nicole Kieley was seriously injured when she was struck by a vehicle which crashed through the front of Shoppers Drug Mart on Lemarchant Road on the afternoon of Sunday, May 21.
Council extended their support to Kieley and her family, and urged residents to respect their privacy as Kieley begins her long road to recovery.
Mayor Dave Aker was devastated to hear the news. He says council is still feeling “lost” without her, but they are hoping she gets the time and space she needs to recover.
Aker says their focus right now is on supporting the deputy mayor in any way they can.
He says the business of the city can continue, but Kieley’s health is their biggest priority.
