The provincial government is eliminating the need for licence plate registration stickers as of the middle of June.
Official registration documents will still be mailed out, and are required to be kept in vehicles at all times, but the yearly stickers that go in the corner of licence plates will be no more.
Annual vehicle registration fees will still apply.
Both the RNC and RCMP have been provided with real-time access to data through an information sharing agreement with Motor Vehicle Registration to confirm valid licences and registration during routine traffic stops.
Licence stickers have already been eliminated in a number of other provinces including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.
