VOCM Cares has presented 10 local charities with funding, totaling $32,000.
The money is part of the organization’s winter round of funding, which comes from radio bingo on Saturday nights.
One of the organizations receiving the money is Agriculture in the Classroom. They have received nearly $5,000 from VOCM Cares.
Little Green Thumbs Coordinator Maureen Foley says the money will be go toward four new gardens in schools across the province.
She describes it as a great program which kids can do themselves while learning skills that can carry over into their teenage years and adulthood. She says kids are “amazed” by what they can grow.
