The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics wound its way through metro yesterday.
The annual event, which raises money for Special Olympics, kicked off at the Paradise Double Ice Complex, made its way to the city depot on Clyde Avenue in Mount Pearl, then finished up at Capital Subaru on Kenmount Road.
Andrew Hynes, a resident of Portugal Cove, is one of only 10 athletes from Canada going to the International Games for the Special Olympics next week in Berlin. It’s the third year trying to get the games in.
The Sweden games were about to begin when COVID hit, and last year the venue was Russia when the war broke out.
Lynette Wells, a Campus Enforcement Officer, at MUN, will be accompanying Andrew who she says has been training hard for the event. They leave Sunday for Montreal, then it’s on to Berlin.
