RCMP have arrested and charged two people in connection with the theft of a dirt bike from a Carbonear business earlier this morning.
Police were called to Honda Town on Water Street in Carbonear just before midnight on Thursday, June 8 where two people had forced their way into the store by breaking a window.
A dirt bike was removed from the store and stuffed it into the back seat of a car, which then sped away from the scene.
RCMP located the suspect vehicle in the area of Riverhead, Harbour Grace a short time later, and pulled the car over where the red Honda CFR-50 was recovered and returned to the business.
Forty-six-year-old Keith White and 37-year-old Wade Smith are charged with a number of criminal offences including break and enter, damage to property, theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.
White is facing an additional charge under the Highway Traffic Act of altering or defacing a licence plate.
The incident was the second break in at the store in a week. Police say the store was hit just before 3:00 a.m. on June 5, when a dirt bike of the same make and model was removed from the store. That bike has not yet being recovered.
The investigation continues.
