The City of Niagara Falls has honoured one of this province’s top athletes for her record-breaking achievement during last summer’s Canada Games.
Jaida Lee of St. John’s became the first female to pitch in boys baseball during the 2023 Canada Summer Games.
Her accomplishment has been recognized across Canada with the game ball now a part of Canada’s Baseball Hall of Fame.
A plaque commemorating Lee’s performance on the mound is now on display at the very park where she made history.
Lee says the City of Niagara Falls reached out to invite her to check out the city’s attractions and attend a plaque unveiling ceremony at Oakes Field. She says the plaque is beautiful and is honoured to be recognized.
Thank you @NiagaraFalls @jimdiodati for setting up the amazing plaque and baseball cards and for the awesome morning pic.twitter.com/QgXog8Ex9w
