The provincial government is clarifying that they are part of discussions involving the Atlantic Loop.
PC leader David Brazil called government’s position on the Atlantic Loop into question last week.
He points to public discussions involving the maritime provinces and Quebec, saying that Newfoundland and Labrador does not appear to be at the table.
In a statement, the province says they are engaged in discussions around energy and energy transmission.
They say that the Atlantic premiers recently discussed how the region is positioned to be an “energy powerhouse” in the years ahead, noting that an effective provincial-federal partnership “focused on economic growth and affordable energy costs” is required.
They say recent discussions have been focused on advancing transmission capabilities in the other provinces, while this province is already delivering clean energy to Nova Scotia via Muskrat Falls and the Maritime Link.
