While many students said goodbye to their teachers and friends this past week, students and staff at a school on the Port au Port Peninsula said goodbye to a beloved four legged friend.
Worth, an Autism Assistance Dog, officially retired after working at St. Thomas Aquinas for the past seven years.
Worth’s career was celebrated during an emotional year end ceremony, where grade 8 student Cohen gave a heartfelt speech to his best friend.
“He has helped me to become the person I am today,” Cohen said. “I love you, Worth.”
Worth will spend his retirement at home with Cohen and become a buddy for his new Autism Service Dog, James.
