An MP from this province has no regrets in voting against an increase in the carbon tax.
Avalon MP Ken McDonald was the only Liberal to vote against his own party earlier this year.
The carbon tax hits us this coming weekend but the Clean Fuel Surcharge won’t take effect until late next week. All four Atlantic Premiers have appealed to Ottawa to delay the changes, but there has been no indication of that happening.
McDonald says the extra cost of fuel will not be good for people in his riding.
He says it’s a wonderful feeling everywhere he goes, constituents come up to him, shake his hand and tell him “thanks for standing up for us.”
