Heavy rainfall warnings are out for much of the western half of the island where amounts could reach 100 mm in the worst case scenario.
Parts of the Northern Peninsula totaled 85 mm since yesterday.
David Neal, meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says the ground was already saturated in some places.
Some of the west coast got drenched on Canada Day, he notes.
A home in Sally’s Cove flooded on the weekend because of a partially-blocked culvert. Three people are being afforded emergency lodging and other necessities by the Canadian Red Cross.
It’s a different story in Labrador, though, with sunshine and warm temperatures in the offing for much of the week.
Neal says they will avoid the effects of the system which is giving the island a drenching.
