Bannerman Park is brimming with activity as stages and fences are being set up to transform the space into the 47th annual NL Folk Festival that gets underway Friday evening.
The festival will take place rain or shine. Organizers say this year will be mostly cashless.
Julie Vogt, Interim Executive Director of the Newfoundland and Labrador Folks Arts Society, says this year’s line up is fantastic.
The festival kicks off with Kellie Loader headlining on Friday night, Saturday is Amelia Curran, and Sunday Iris Dement and Rum Ragged co-headline. Vogt states that it’s a jam packed weekend.
The festival site closes from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday for maintenance.
As it stands the weather for the festival looks cloudy with temperatures in the mid to high teens.
