The Royal St. John’s Regatta Hall of Fame is expanding by two.
Charles Cook, a former President of the Regatta goes in in the builder category while Ed Williams will be inducted as a rower.
Current President Noelle Thomas Kennell says the two inductees have given generously of their time and expertise to the sport of fixed-seat rowing.
Williams’ first championship came in 1999 with the NTV crew, who would go on to win four straight championships. He also won two more Regattas with the Crosbie Industrial crew, considered one of the greatest of all time.
Cook contributed his expertise to the 200tjh-anniversary committee, assuming the chairmanship in 2016. Under his guidance, the Winners’ Circle and the Hall of Fame monument were realized. He secured $3 million in funding throughout his years on the committee.
The Hall of Fame ceremony takes place Wednesday, July 26 at a luncheon at the St. John’s Convention Centre.
