Construction should begin soon on 16 new NL Housing units in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The town and federal and provincial governments announced $5 million dollars in funding earlier this week to build the units in hopes of cutting down on the waiting list for housing in the area.
New Minister Responsible for NL Housing, Paul Pike says the new units, which will be fully accessible and constructed with Universal Design principles, should be available in next year.
The province is going to tender in August with construction to start in the fall.
Four similar units were officially opened this week, with families expected to move in in the coming weeks.
