A local organization supporting the LGBTQ+ community has opened the doors on a new queer safe space in the capital city.
The Quadrangle’s new facility on Elizabeth Avenue is fully accessible and hopes to provide the necessary supports and resources for queer and gender diverse people.
Executive Director Charlie Murphy says the local LGBTQ+ community has been fighting for such a space for nearly 40 years.
Thanks to a decade’s worth of work by the Quadrangle, they’re proud to make that space a reality and look forward to a number of events ahead.
Murphy says the space will host a wide variety of gatherings, including peer support groups, one-on-one support, family dinners, and story time sessions. They’ll also provide things such as makeup and haircuts for gender diverse and transgender people.
