Tensions were high in a pair of Newfoundland communities yesterday afternoon as police responded to separate incidents.
Residents of Swift Current returned to normal activities after a heavy police presence and barricade in the community. RCMP searched for an armed individual in Swift Current. Tony Farrell of Marystown is still at large and is labelled “armed and violent.”
Officers will remain in the area. Anyone who see Farrell is asked to call 911
Meanwhile, earlier in the day the RCMP closed a section of the Conception Bay Highway in Spaniards Bay due to an incident near Restaurant 99.
People were asked to avoid the area for a time, but the incident was safely resolved with one man being arrested.
