The Royal St. John’s Regatta has welcomed two more members into the Hall of Fame.
The inductions took place during a luncheon at the St. John’s Convention Centre yesterday.
Former Regatta president Charles Cook went in as a builder while Ed Williams was inducted under the rower category.
The room gave each man a standing ovation as their names were called.
Williams recalled the historic moment in 2007 when, as part of the Crosbie Industrial crew, they broke the long course record twice in one day with a final time of 8:51.32, a record that still holds today.
He recalls Siobhan Duff commenting on the live broadcast of the race that “they are all experiencing what we all dream of.” Williams says that’s what rowing is all about.
