The Prime Minister is confident in the abilities of the new federal fisheries minister.
Quebec MP Diane Lebouthillier was appointed to the role during a cabinet shuffle this week.
The FFAW has since come out to say they are looking forward to working with the new minister, noting that they are excited to work with an MP with experience in similar waters as this province.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was in Gander yesterday, says Lebouthillier has done significant work with other Atlantic MPs over the last year.
Trudeau says that as Revenue Minister she has been down on the wharves talking about the issues.
“She gets it” says Trudeau, stating that he can’t wait for people to see how strong she will be in the role.
