The provincial government has announced a new chairperson and vice-chair for the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation’s board of directors.
Glenn Mifflin has been re-appointed to the board for a three-year term, and will take over the role of board chair, while Lynn Zurel moves into the role of vice-chair.
Both were originally appointed based on recommendations from the Independent Appointments Commission.
Current chairman Fraser Edison and vice-chair Victoria Belbin are retiring from the board as their terms end.
The NLC is responsible for regulating and managing the import, sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages and non-medicinal cannabis within the province.
The Crown corporation reported almost $56 million in earnings last quarter, down $2 million from the previous quarter.
They attributed that to the impact of a new collective agreement and changes to support struggling cannabis retailers.
