Miawpukek Horizon Maritime Services and EverWind Fuels have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a green fuel transshipment corridor in Atlantic Canada.
The corridor will be between EverWind’s clean hydrogen and ammonia project proposed for the Burin Peninsula and it’s Point Tupper transshipment facility in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
The partnership includes the deployment of Canada’s first green fuel shuttling vessel, crewed by Indigenous mariners. The vessel will require a full-time crew of up to 16 people.
Miawpukek Horizon says it will utilize its training program to prepare Indigenous seafarers for the vessel’s operation.
The collaboration also focuses on developing safe and efficient procedures for handling green fuels, contributing to the region’s green energy hub and advancing renewable energy efforts in Canada.
