Gros Morne National Park is apologizing after a woman was told by park staff that she couldn’t use her mobility scooter to access Western Brook Pond.
Visitor Experience Product Development Officer Rob Hingston says some staff had the wrong information and incorrectly told a woman that she had to use the mobility device they offer, a hippocampe wheelchair, instead of her own.
Hingston clarifies that anyone visiting the pond is entitled to use their own device.
He says the role of Parks Canada in such instances is to help people decide if their device is suitable for the trail.
