We now have more details on facility construction and upgrades for the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John’s.
Two facilities built for the 1977 Games—the Aquarena and the Green Belt Tennis Club—will be refurbished.
The Aquarena renovations will include new diving boards and platforms, new pool bulkheads and a clock for swimming competitions, new spectator seating, a new family changeroom, and structural and mechanical upgrades.
Jordan Wright lead for the games at MUN says the upgrades will breathe new life into the Aquarena.
The facility will close starting in the fall for an unspecified period of time.
The brand-new Fortis Canada Games Complex on Lambe’s Lane will provide a track and field facility with pro-certified artificial soccer turf, and an indoor training facility to allow for year-round use.
Volunteer opportunities will be made available through the host society at a later date.
