The national student body supports the Memorial University Students’ Union in its quest for increased funding and support for the Wellness and Counselling Centre.
The Canadian Federation of Students – Newfoundland and Labrador branch – says the facility has been providing students with access to mental health services on campus for 20 years and has offered crucial pathways for training and retraining health professionals. If the centre loses its accreditation, the province will see a decrease in the number of healthcare professionals who can work.
Mary Feltham, the chair of the federation, calls for action from decision-makers at Memorial and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
