A 27-year-old Happy Valley-Goose Bay man is facing numerous charges following an incident in the town on Monday that required a significant police presence.
Two separate reports were received by the RCMP about the accused.
The first reported an assault, threats and damage to property. While police were searching for the man, a second tip was received indicating that he was armed with a firearm.
He was located and contained to the area of White Crescent. Police negotiators were engaged and the man was safely taken into custody.
He was held to appear in court today on numerous charges, those being careless use of a firearm, assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, mischief under $5,000, and failing to comply with a release order.
