The federal government has announced a funding boost for the Council of Marine Professional Associates.
The organization, also known as COMPASS, is receiving $170,000 to help them assess industry talent needs and prepare the next generation to enter the industry.
The federal government says the money is necessary due to a high turnover rate expected in the industry over the next decade.
They say estimates indicate that close to half the workforce will retire during that time.
